THE BACK STORY
We’ve set up a pre-order for Oour most-anticipated collaboration denim with Samurai Jeans Co., Ltd way back in late September 2021. This is the first-ever collaboration we’ve ever done with a fellow denim brand. And there’s no doubt that Samurai will be just the perfect brand to work shoulder to shoulder in creating an exciting collab.
Being a denim-head in the early 2000s, we just can’t help but be inspired with all the qualities and particularities Samurai have to offer in the denim industry. One way or another, they assisted us in shaping who we are and what we aim for. That’s why when they pitched us with this project, we surely can’t say no. After lots and lots of brainstorms and exchanging ideas starting from early 2021, we finally came up with a sample and decide to start setting pre-orders by September 2021
THE CHALLENGES
We’ve wrapped up the pre-0rder period by mid October, and planned to have them finished by end of January to mid February. We surely pushed ourselves to deliver our promise, but the future is really unpredictable.
In January, a third wave of C-19 hit Indonesia, this caused a mini hellish nightmare, especially in the logistical part. The production itself was actually finished right on time (kudos to Nogami-San and the Samurai team!), but getting them to our HQ is the challenge after that.
At the time, shipment to our respected retailers around the world are also conducted, that is why you all probably realize some shops already have them in stock even before we do! But hey, worry no more! The Oldblue X Samurai – 21 Oz Kisouma Selvedge is now here!
We do want to apologize to all of you fellow Oldblue for the delay, and we can’t thank you enough for the patience and trust that you give us!
