The Oldblue Boneyards collection is back! After a long 4 years of hiatus, it has crawled from six feet under and resurrected from the dark resting place!
If the Boneyards name doesn’t ring you a bell, it’s time to refresh your memory. The Boneyards collection is an unfamiliar denim issue n’ collection consisted only with one-off denim articles made with rare and dead-stock (or extinct, or last roll) fabrics sourced from all over the world. Each of the Boneyards’ runs usually consists of exceptionally limited pairs of jeans.
This time not only one, but we awaken two different fabric from their casket!
Boneyards 05 - 21 Oz Long Staple Kuroki
THE FABRIC
For the Boneyards Dead Roll No. 5, the chosen roll was this exceptionally rare 21 oz. / sq. yards heavy-weight denim fabric from Kuroki Mills, Japan. This heavy-weight denim is by no means your run-of-the-mill heavy denim with only its numbers to be shown. To start things off, this rope-dyed indigo denim was made using extra-long staple cotton. The longer the staple, the finer and the stronger a fibre is. Hence, the higher the quality. One of the main characteristics of ELS cotton is its soft and delicate hand-feel.
So, combining heavy ounces with ELS cotton and the sanforizing finish will provide us with the best of both worlds. You can get all the favorable values of extra-heavy-ounces denim (the thickness, the durability, the safety) in an extremely comfortable and pleasurable wearing experience.
THE DETAILS
It’s not going to be a Boneyards if it’s not having some unique details, the dungaree sports a specially crafted brand-new leather stamp design. The leather itself is our signature leather patch material we’ve been using since 2011; the natural veg-tanned horse-hide from Horween USA. It will also have a specially made flasher for the Boneyards collection.
The dungaree also feature Oldblue’s signature details such as; the single-looped arcuate on the back pockets, and the two-tone chainstitched hem,. Of course, not to forget the hidden rivets, raised back pockets and belt loops, indigo dobby pocket lining, the peek ‘a boo selvedge coin pocket, the overlock shell-stitch on its fly, and the two-tone double felled inseam construction.
THE FIT
Due to its heavy yet delicate nature, our 7.75” Cut is a no-brainer choice to be its base fit n’ pattern. The first impression we got was like our legs were shrouded and snuggled by a dense and cushioned blanket.
The 7.75″ itself is our current signature run of a classic slim-fitted jean cut. Maintaining the medium-rise built to keep the comfortable level where it won’t interfere you on doing your daily duty. The 7.75” Cut has a slight taper on the calves through the leg opening and features a slightly lower yoke.

THE FABRIC
The Viola Devil. We think the name says it all. It’s hard to keep our eyes away from its spectacular purple weft part. The purple yarn-dyed weft is able to complement the ‘regular’ indigo face splendidly, to say the least. As you can see from the above photos, the combination of indigo and purple weave resulted in this magical and mythical deep tone. We kept the denim on its loom-state / unsanforized finish so that you’d still be able to cherish its pristine fabric character n’ texture.
Weighted at 15 ounces / sq. yard, this mid-weight denim loomed in our Japanese Mills partner. If you remember our infamous 15 Oz. Deep Indigo line up (the regular weft, brown weft, and indigo weft), this denim was made with the same fabric construction and from the same Japanese denim mills. So you might have an idea or two on how the denim will divinely evolve with wear.

Of course, not to forget the hidden rivets, raised back pockets and belt loops, and the overlock shell-stitch on its fly.
