Saddle up, feel the luck in #THELUCKY13TH buck!

This special denim issue was released in conjunction with our 13th anniversary celebration; #THELUCKY13TH. In the native American culture, the number 13 is seen as a sign of good luck. It’s a badge of good fortune and protection. It’s also whispered around campfires and across the prairie that the Great Spirit nods favorably toward this number, blessin’ it with luck and prosperity. The number 13 is also seen as a symbol of healing and is believed to bring peace and understanding. So here we are, 13 YEARS AND STILL KICKIN’ AS HEAVY AS EVER!

Rounding the bend into our 13th year, we’re feeling downright blessed to be settling our boots in this big ol’ blue world. Lucky to do what we’re really passionate about. Lucky to be able to make a living out of something we truly love. Lucky to see our growing number of fellows appreciating and believing the kind of value and quality that we have to offer throughout the years. Most of all, lucky to simply be our authentic self. Yessir, it’s been 13 years, and we’re still ridin’ that trail, full of gratitude for the journey!

The primary idea of the Dust Devil collection is to create a yin and yang kind of denim. Heavy ounces denim, but not in a way that it’ll tear yer legs down. Thick and dense denim that’s also easily wearable all season long. Tough on the outside, soft on the inside. The rough and sharp character of short staple cotton combined with the softness and delicacy of extra-long-staple cotton. And long story short, that’s where the idea to combine American and Australian cotton (for the warp yarns) with the ELS Zimbabwean cotton (the weft yarns) gained its momentum.

We worked hand in hand with our Japanese Mills partner to come up with this spectacular selvedge denim fabric. The final output is a freshly and exclusively loomed indigo denim fabric weighted at 20.6 oz. / sq. yds. And as expected, the inside face that’s constructed using extra-long-staple Zimbabwean cotton yarns feels so easy on the skin, considering its extra-heavy character. The outer face feels as tough as nails and ready to accompany you thru any kind of heavy circumstances. That’s the balance of both of the blue worlds we’re aiming for.

8.25" Cut - 20.6 Oz Dust Devil Selvedge UNSF

THE DETAILS

The Dust Devil UNSF is the most pristine form of the 3. We kept it in its loomstate condition. Untouched, strike off the loom kind of denim. Mainly characterized with all the favorable denim textures (which are very important for us die-hard denim heads) as it didn’t go thru any finishing process. It surely looks hairy because of all the excess cotton fibres that sit on its surface. The unspoiled and the most quintessential form of our 20.6 ounces Dust Devil Selvedge deserves nothing but our longest and most trusted kind of denim cut; which is no other than the infamous 8.25” Cut.

A special patch indeed. Only for the Dust Devil!

Lined backpockets!

Loom-state. As raw as it gets!

Details we all love!

THE FIT

The 8.25″ Cut is Oldblue’s signature slim straight cut. If you’ve been following us for a while, you would know what this means. It falls somewhere between the slim cut to the regular straight cut. It starts quite slim in its thigh area, hugging a little closer than a regular straight cut will be. And it will be straight down from the knee, calves to the hem with basically no taper. Another key note of this cut is in its medium rise built. So it will give you a roomier and fuller kind of top block.

A cut that is our most versatile (and most-experienced) cut that’s able to fit various kinds of body type.

7.75" Cut - 20.6 Oz Dust Devil Selvedge SANF

THE DETAILS

The Dust Devil SANF has a more refined texture all over. And yes, this one is the most subtle-textured denim of the 3. As you can easily tell by its name, it’s gone thru a sanforizing process. Resulting in a more uniform and smoother denim appearance. This pre-shrunk denim will be suitable for you who’d like to get a hustle-free experience in wearing blue genes. The combination of Extra-Long-Staple Zimbabwean cotton on its weft construction and the sanforizing process makes this heavy ounces denim like no other you’ve ever experienced. Long story short, this denim has all the traits it takes to be the base fabric of our slimmer 7.75” Cut. Experience a particular and superior soft feel once it touches yer legs.

7.75" Cut - 20.6 Oz Dust Devil Selvedge IDBK

THE DETAILS

The last breed of our Dust Devil denim collection. For the last breed of its type, it’s our intention to make something peculiar on the weft yarns. Something that’s unique, but still in the corridor of our signature denim offering that’s meant to be offered all year long. So we decided to finish off the Zimbabwean cotton yarns with black color from a sulphur dyeing process. Resulting in this extra depth and extra beauty of Indigo X Black denim. We decided to use our 7.75″ cut for this denim to proof its versatility. A denim cut with a slim silhouette without the need of sacrificing the level of comfort.
